Mai TV has announced that it has acquired Highlights only TV rights of the 2011 Pacific Games and will be broadcasting comprehensive coverage of the regional event from 7.30pm tonight (Monday 29 August)
After months of negotiations Mai TV says the Pacific Games Council has given the station approval to broadcast an hour of highlights a day for the duration of the event.
“We are absolutely thrilled that we can provide this service to our viewers. The 7.30pm package will contain the best of the Pacific Games”, CEO Richard Broadbridge said
Mai TV says the Pacific Games joins the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in September. FIFA has granted rights to Mai TV to broadcast this event later in the month.
Mai TV says it will broadcast full matches from the final stages and will be distributing these matches via satellite to seven countries in the South Pacific region.
The broadcaster says it also has plans to provide extensive coverage of the Rugby World Cup by providing news reports from New Zealand in prime time throughout the tournament.
“Our loyal viewers expect some coverage so we have put in place a strategy to provide the best we can within the terms of accreditation set out by the IRB”, Broadbridge said Viewers are advised to purchase a September issue of MaiLIFE Magazine where schedules will be provided in detail.
